The Seven Characteristics of a Successful Coaching Practise

It has been great over the last few months to see so many of my clients helping others and generating a good income through their coaching practices. I have a certain way of doing things that ensures that people have three big boxes ticked:

1.       They have a constant stream of new requests for their services.

2.       They are earning a significant hourly rate.

3.       They are working on their own terms in relation to hours, type of clients, how and where they coach.

If these three things are happening then people are usually happy with their coaching businesses.

There are certain characteristics that need to be evident to have a successful practice if you do things my way. I focus on these characteristics when I am helping others to build their businesses:

1.       Clarity around what services they provide.

2.       A great web site, which they can control.

3.       A number of marketing systems in place to attract new clients.

4.       Great coaching.

5.       Effective scheduling, time management and energy management.

6.       A positive attitude and lots of patience.

7.       Confidence and the ability to sell.

Now there are hundreds of things to consider underneath these top level items, but in a nut shell this is it. Everything else being equal, it you hit the mark in these seven areas your business will succeed. If one of them is compromised your business will fail. These are the “seven characteristics of a successful coaching practice”.

I work with lots of new coaches who are just starting out. I help them review whether they need education to enable them to become a great coach and work through the business creation actitivies. The service that I provide acts as an accelerator. People have the option of trying to work through things by themselves, but if they use me they will help people and start making money much, much quicker.

Many of the people that I work with have an existing job and want to get into life coaching or business coaching to top up their income. Some of these people want to start their coaching practice on a part time basis (in parallel with their day job) with a view to scaling it up over time. They then have the option of spending the majoritry of their time coaching within their own business on their own terms.

If you are curious about starting a coaching practice, or you are an existing coach that needs to take your business to the next level please contact me. I will be happy to have a chat with you and share some more tips.
